Session description:
Nutrition and health are deeply interconnected. When access to nutritious food is limited or denied, the consequences can extend beyond hunger, affecting both physical and mental health. In this workshop, we will examine the challenges of inadequate nutrition in carceral settings and explore how these conditions can contribute to immediate and long-term health consequences. Through real-world examples, we will consider how nutritional quality can shape health outcomes within carceral settings. Throughout the workshop, participants will also engage in a mindfulness-based art project, creating space for reflection on the relationship between food, health, and human well-being.
