Session Description:
In this Westheimer Lunch and Learn, Joe Spring discusses two common misconceptions about immigration in the media and public opinion: that immigrants are dangerous and commit more crime than the general public, and that immigration is a burden on the US economy. He will then contrast them with the realities that he has witnessed firsthand as an immigration lawyer. Joe will also share anecdotal stories about some of the Asylum cases he has worked on. These intense and graphic stories highlight what some of the immigrants are running from when they come to the USA seeking Asylum.
